What are copepods?
Copepods are an essential part of the marine food web. They are one of the links between microscopic food and food large enough to be seen with the naked eye. They range in size from 0.5-1.5mm and are football-shaped. Most of the time copepods live in macro algae, sand and rock crevices. They feed on bacteria, rotting food scraps, fish waste, and various algae. When placed in a refugium, the copepods will multiply in turn, feeding your reef with the surplus colony.

Why do I need them?
They provide a nutritious food source (~52% protein, ~40% fatty acids) for all reed inhabitants. Seahorse and Clownfish breeders use copepods as feed for their small fry because their locomotion consists of sudden jerky motions which play an important role in prey attraction. Aquarium hobbyists use copepods to help remove wastes from smaller, hard to reach places where shrimp and fish can not reach. Copepods cleanse the aquarium of unwanted decaying food particles which leads to lower nitrates and phosphates and cleaner water.

How many do I get and how much?
I guarantee their freshness and vitality by bottling them on the day of sale. I use my very best live phytoplankton throughout the copepods 25-35 day life cycle to adulthood to ensure you get the best quality product possible. I am selling 10,000 hoppers for $35.

Shipping
I can ship anywhere in the US UPS Overnight, UPS 2-Day or 3-Day. A $5 additional fee for insulation and packing material is necessary to guarantee the product’s freshness upon delivery.

Pick-Up
Or you can simply call me 210-452-8915 and pick-up from my house.

A fellow MAAST member told me that suppliers normally sell their copepods by the total number of organisms rather then counting only the ones you can see with the naked eye. It never occurred to me to count the developing microscopic copepods like they do.

Therefore, I did a density count on a bottle of copepods for sale and found there to be 6,000 to 7,200 copepods contained within. Additionally, I've corrected my price from 100(visible) pods for $35 to 10,000(total) pods for $35.

As always, I will be more then happy to show you, under a microscope, what it is you are buying and explain to you how a cell density count is derived. I hope to see you soon.

Thank you.

:applause: Ok this is the guy to go to if you need live food for your tank! The shipping prices are really amazing but if you can try to swing by in person. I saw the copepods and the phyto under the microscope, and learned how they were propagated and where they came from. It really is amazing to see what you are actually getting! He has a really cool setup and the best prices! I even got a free bag of phyto with my brine and copepods, and it was filled to the very top! Will definitely be going back every chance I get and encourage everyone to do the same!!

Yes we sell continually or as long as supplies last. If we run out of any particular species, I will edit the initial post to reflect that in red and give you an estimate date of return.

I'm starting to learn more about these little creatures than I ever imagined

May I ask what species you are offering? I've been learning that some "pods" will be more readily accepted by the Mandarin as others.
