So shoot...tell me what NOT to buy and what to go with

I have a sump with a dedicated skimmer area

I can do hang on
In sump
hang on tank
just not in tank

My tank is a 125 but with the rock sandbed and the sump i have almost exactly 100 gallons of water to be skimmed

so suggest away

the last skimmer i bought for my 20 was a disaster (fission nano) so i need better advice and would prefer something that really pulled crap out of the tank

I am going to buy one tomorrow when I go to Austin

If you have one to sell feel free to PM me...I am open to the idea...if you are farther than Austin to the Fort Hood area...I can't drive to pick it up though..but I do have paypal and I want it soon...my tank needs it

THANKS!!!

my sump only has three compartments and no "pockets" the water line is about 12"

live and learn...sub said it would have been nice for me to have pockets but when i had it built i told the guy...hey what you think is best because i don't know...and apparently...well...I'm learning. ;) Its big though.

Everyone one has there favorate brands. Mine would be Precision Marine, made right here in New Braunfels. They use a Beckett injector.

By pockets, I think he means how much money you got to spend. If you are on a budget, then got with a Octopus, if you got the money then get what ever you can afford. Also, get the largest skimmer that you can fit in the space that you have in your sump.

Amen to that one brother. The absolute most useless piece of junk I ever wasted my money. Ok, well I had a '86 Pontiac Fiero and THAT was the worst investment I ever made. But, the skilter is a close second.

Ones to stay away from:
Skilter
CPR Bak-Pak

LOL...ok...maybe he said compartments..lol. :blushing:

Anyway...I just want one that wont fail so I don't have to turn around and spend the money again in six months even if that means that I have to spend a bit up front. I have so much stuff that I have bought only to find it isn't adequate and wish I had bought better in the first place.

Like the maxi jet power heads...I wish i had bought anything with a magnetic mount because the suction is failing and now I am limited to where it will hang and with an oceanic tank..it has a huge lip and the hook doesn't fit...

Anyone need em? i have one Koralia? I think thats what it is...I love it. Wish I had found it first...so I am trying to do better with the skimmer especially since its so spendy and important.

I will spend what it takes.

Euro Reef RS135. :) I have one on a moderately stocked tank. It's a 75 with about 180 lbs of LR and another 140 or so in sand. 29 gallon remote houses the skimmer. It only runs at night and it rocks. Depends really on how dirty of water you want to try to keep ;)

Great Choice. I have been through a lot of skimmers and the Euroreef was my favorite!

Congrats and enjoy.
