im looking to buy my first protein skimmer. and i have no clue what to look for, i was wondering if yall can give me a good site to buy one at and posably recomend one for me? im not going to go very far over 200$ though.(my tank is a 75 gallon)

well im planning to have about...lets see....around 10 small fish, and once i get all my levels to good lvl's, ill hop right on getting corals, but im not going to load it with corals

mesh mod an octopus in-sump or backpack. talk to your local retailer or look on reefcentral. just saw one for about 150 bucks.

once again im asking help to choose a good protein skimmer around the 200$ level.ive never had one so i have no idea what to get,even though ive read up on them so much. (heres some info about my tank that you will prolly need to help me)

size: 75 gallons

how much fish: only two now, but ill have somewhere around 8 when im done

corals: none now, but im going so get some ASAP(i need a skimmer first!)and a anenome.

i need a hang on and a in sump because i dont have a refugium atm, but when i do get one i want it to go in the sump


if you need more info just ask me.
and please tell me some choices, because i would like to choose one ASAP.:bigsmile:

the octopus xtreme 110 usually retails for about $140 or so and is a good skimmer..its in sump ur looking for right?

I still think you'd be really happy with the EuroReef Rs80. Probably the best "bang for buck" right there.

well they make a hang on too..its a dual hang on because a bak pak would be too small for you i believe

ooooooh, I didn't realize this was hang on either... I've heard good things about the CPR bakpacks, but never run one myself... sorry for my confusion :bigsmile:

i think the bak pak is only rated for a 60g...here is an octopus not sure if its still for sale http://www.maast.org/forums/showthread.php?t=42185&highlight=octopus

yeah, but to not spend too much of his parent's money, and with out a large bio-load, I think the bakpak would be okay.
the Octo110 would be "baller" though lol
