I think we need a FW forum added for SW geeks that delve in the FW stuff, too. I thought I'd post a few pix of my wife's new FW Planted tank. She's taken on the two hardest FW parts...planted ...and Discus's... Please enjoy...

She now has 5 in there, along with the Tetras we cycled with. Can't wait to see it fill-in...

Great tank! I have 11yrs of freshwater experience. Anything from Planted Aquariums, South Americans to Piranha. Do not currently have a freshwater tank do to saltwater being more of a passion. IMO I think the longe is the best place to talk freshwater versus actually adding a new forum, because this is a Marine/Saltwater club. www.hillcountrycichlidclub.com (http://www.hillcountrycichlidclub.com) is a local freshwater club that I am a member of. Great place and people to talk fresh with.

This tank has taught me to have a lot of patience, we actually started cycling water back in mid January with added Tetras, added a couple of plants early March, and 2 small Discus (from RCA) in late March, with more plants. Over the weekend we added 3 more Discus. Thanks everyone for the comments, I still have a long way to go, but it's looking good. Thanks Misti for all your help and the book, it's really helped a lot.

no problem! I'm glad to see it's all coming together for you! Discus are great fish! Put in a dozen or so ghost shrimp and the discus will hunt them down. It's awesome to watch those guys stalk the shrimp. Plus, while they're awaiting being caught, the shrimp will help clean up around the tank!

Do you have the shrimp at the store? I'[ll get Steve to pick some up, we have been feeding them live brine and they love it. I need to get Steve to bring back your book, I just realized I still have it.
Thanks again,
Cheri

we've got some. Have him call me before he swings by and I'll get some ready for him. Don't worry about the book, I'll get it back sometime...
