Hey I got a Nano 28 HQI. It's running 85 degrees now in the warmer weather. How would that work for my Nano. Do you know where there's some pictures of it set up and running?

I run my 28g HQI with a chiller :) My water was in the 80s before installing the chiller and now it's stays around 78. It fits perfectly in the bottom compartment of the stand they designed for it. Just make sure the chiller's dimensions are a good size. If you have plumbing questions I can take pics or have bf answer...he set it up for me

Yeah I'd love to see some pics. What pumps the water? I've modified my Nano- only liverock in the back with a separate canister filter for particulates. Would the canister pump push the water through the chiller?

It depends on the Flow rate of the canister pump. You need to be pumping 7-12gpm max through this chiller.

Whats the age of this unit? I bought a Teco Chiller, but It cant keep up with my setup... (800w MH + skimmer and misc pumps/powerheads.) How good would you think it would keep up on a 55g with 30g sump with the above accessories?

So how is the pump set up? Gravity flow into the chiller, then tubing to a pumphead then back into the tank?

You use a pump and pump into it, then you run a return back to your tank/sump.

ansonluna,
- Is this chiller still available?
Yes, it is.
tropicana,
- Whats the age of this unit?
I've used the chiller for about 1 year.
- How good would you think it would keep up on a 55g with 30g sump with the above accessories?
1. I ran the unit on a 75gal w/Oceanic 29gal sump, then briefly on a 120gal w/30gal sump.
I was successful keeping the temp on the 75gal setup at 79 degrees and 81 on the 120gal setup.
des,
- So how is the pump set up?
There are various ways to cycle water through a chiller.
- Gravity flow into the chiller, then tubing to a pumphead then back into the tank?
I have used several concepts;
1. Gravity feed from the tank, through the chiller, then into the sump.
2. Split the return line to feed the chiller, then back into the sump. Help chill the Mag 18 in the process.
3. With the chiller I have now, from the sump to an Ehiem 1260, to the chiller, then SCWD into the tank.

On Cory's tank she's running a MaxiJet 1200 from the 1st chamber down to the chiller and then the return goes up to the HOB refugium which then dumps into the 3rd chamber. Works pretty nicely, IMHO.
