The tubing under my overflow box was leaking, not bad, but a drop over a minute time frame. The tubing also didn't seem like it fit real tight and I was worried about it sliding off in the night and waking up to a flood. So I bought some pvc cement and glued it on the inside so at least it would stay together and I wouldn't have to worry about that. Now for my question and what I want to do. I want to use some sealant to go around the inside lip of where the tubing and bulkhead fit. Can I use any kind of waterproof sealant (like bathroom caulking) or does it have to be a specific kind? TIA

Personally it would be easier to get a new gasket and make the bulkhead up again, not sure if you can now that glued it together. Sealing it with caulk is like putting a bandaid over a cut, eventually it will come off and fail. Universal City is near Shertz right? I'd bet you could find at least 12 MAASTARDS that live in that area that might offer to come by and assist you with the bulkhead.

Yes, right next to Schertz....5 minutes close!

Don't use bathroom sealant. It has a mildew product in it.
I'd re-do. I just did that for the one on my 55. Just pull it all apart and start over.

Well you at least have 2 votes for a redo. If you insist upon using silicone but GE TypeI as TypeII has the mildew chemicals in it that can leech out.

Actually, i hooked it back up after using the pvc cement. It stopped leaking. Like I said, it was a VERY small leak, if you even want to call it that. Anyway, I don't need any silicone and will just leave as is. I will also keep a close eye on it. It will only be temporary til my move, then I will probably just get it drilled. Bstreep, thx for the info.....I actually had the bathroom caulking ready, but waiting on a response. I never would have thought about the mildew aspect!
