man it seems like i've done everything i could and it manages to stay there and spread

first heres some parameters for my tank

28g gallon tank with a 20g tall refugium that has about 10gallons of water in it with chaeto and live rock rubble
amm: 0
nitrites:0
nitrates: 0
phosphates: "0"
Calcium: 460
ALK: 8-9dKH
Magnesium: 1300

two tunze 6025s modified to push out 1,200gph each plus 1 #1 koralia, i have an overlowbox that the water goes through a refugium/sump where a needlewheel octopus 150 that has all the mods done to it is-- it pulls out dark stuff

i recently added a phosban reactor with phosban media but it doesnt seem to be working. its hooked up to a maxijet 400

at first i had this stuff on my sand, once i added the skimmer it went away but the slime on the rock still stayed. this slime isnt like the one on my sandbed but its a dark red color-- spreads like coralline but isnt coralline because i can still scrape it off with the end of a turkey baster.

the last resort is to just use chemi-clean but im not sure. ive heard 50/50 stories of it being good or bad.

i am currently running 20 grams of phosban in the reactor, im still adding it slowly. any help would be great beforei use the chemi-clean

I ran chemiclean, Ive got Red mushrooms, green cap, green slimer, pink mushrooms, faux coral, Sea world Acro, Sun coral, Maroon Clownfish, Yellow Tang, (had a lionfish at the time) and they all seemed to do Great after the Chemi-clean..... Just make sure you do a water change.

First start by scraping every bit of it off you can, and sucking it OUT of the tank, Add chemiclean, wait the alloted time, do a water change, then add Scarlet Hermits or Blue legged hermits if you want. They are supposed to control it as well. I have a 18w UV light, I would install that too if i was you, it kills the bacteria as it goes through it, which that is what Cyano is, Bacterial-Algae. I have yet to see ANY cyano back after 4 months!

That is just MY success story, I see how people dont succeed, they dont do a water change afterward so it comes back or leaves the chemical too long so things Die...... A water change is a MUST like it says!!!!

Just make sure you turn off your skimmer, and take out any carbons, phosbans, ozonizers, anything like that while you use the chemiclean. Make sure to use an AIR Stone when you have your skimmer off too! Your skimmer is a source of aeration.

the thing is that is im not sure id be able to scrape all of this stuff, its all over my rock.

what would be the affects if i were to leave it on the rock and run chemiclean but do water changes and all of that?

Assuming it is cyano and soft: If you have a siphon, take off the large vacuum end. The smaller tube will have a lot more suction power and you can use that to suck if off the rocks. That is what has worked best for me. Just be careful around shrimp and small corals or else they are going for a little ride...

you brought up a great point paul

i have foud out that my water is high in c02 and therefore exhausting my DI resin faster. this might be another large reason why its thriving

I had cyano for a while, I tried leaving my lights off for 2.5 days, scrubbing it off rocks and siphoning it out, water changes, etc... No progress.

Two doses of Chemiclean later and I have not seen any since :)
