Hey, so I bought a condy anemone from the lfs today. Does anybody have one? If so, does yours move around a lot??? And is it in a reef tank? I've read that these aren't the greatest things to keep in a reef tank.

I've never kept one in my tank but from what I've seen, they have a tendency to move around a little bit, especially at first when they are trying to find a suitable spot with good lighting and ideal water flow. I know of people who keep them in reef tanks but its not recommended just because they can sting anything they touch. So its a $10 condy against several $20+ corals, I guess if your tank is big enough you might not have a problem.

Like other anemones they tend to move and can sting other corals to death. Condy's are actually more powerful stingers than BTA's and can probably do alot more damage.

They get huge. I had one take up a third of a 75 gal tank. Nothing lived in that corner. I was happy when it kicked. Now the corner is filled with life and the fish are happy with the extra swimming room.

lol wow i had no idea they got that big. i got mine for 12 buks at eds shop i really like the color though thats prolly why i ended up getting mine rather than just a regular white one. either ways im pretty sure that once it gets used to one place like mine it wont move around anymore

So I am guessing I will be safe, as long as it hasn't moved in a couple of months, and as long as I never change the lighting conditions, or the water quality.

i've had mine since week one of my tank and its been in the same spot for about a year under pc lights with about 6.5 watts per gallon. I bought mine at fintiques for 8.50 and take away the 20% for there sale on thursday. pretty much like everyone has said is once it finds its spot it should stay there and be sure to feed it every so often.
