I have a new 75 gallon tank, with a wooden stand. The old 55 gallon wont fit under the tank, as a sump, so I have it laying around. I can fit a 29 gallon tank under there, but how could I make use for the old 55 gallon? I don't think I want to make it into another aquarium... if anything, I would like to use it in a way in which it would benefit the 75 gallon. I guess I could stick it on the ground behind the 75 gallon stand on the ground, but that would look kindof ugly in my room, but then again, 55g tanks are pretty darn thin. I don't know, the options are pretty obvious, but if you were in this situation, what would you do? Thank you MAASTARDS!

if I were in your situation, I would put the 55 on a stand that is slightly higher than the 75 and make it a really large fuge. In my opinion this would be a great use of the 55.

why higher? never seen or heard of this, curious is all, I don't plan on doing anything like this.

Higher so that it would be a gravity flow back into the main tank.

Quarantine tank, that would benefit your 75 eventually.

i vote - Huge Deep Sandbed Fuge, elevated so it drains into the display. Lighting run on a reverse cycle.

more votes for fuge so far. I think I'm liking this idea. Or, could I use it purely for more water content? Shoudl I stick it behind the display?

Do a natural biotope fuge above the tank. You'll need to make double ****ed sure that it won't suck itself dry in the event of a power failure. You'll need to make sure that the 75g can handle the excess water, and or a good sized sump below the tanks that can handle the overflows, that's where your skimmer will be anyways right?

So a nice DSB, loads of mangroves sticking out, lot's of macroalgaes, spiny oysters, jewel box oysters, chitons, ceriths, nerites, nassarius, and planaxus snails would be a natural gulf FL environment.

+1 fuge.

I also do agree that if you don't already have one, a QT tank would be wise as well.

ORRRRRRRR A TOP OFF CONTAINER, lol. You could go on vacation for like 3 months. haha

Erik you are the Sh*t! I totally have to use it as a top off, just for an excuse to go on such a long vacation.. or I could SERIOUSLY use it for a top off when I'm gone for college. I will be gone every 2 weeks. Actually Erik, I think this is probably the thing I will do. But then again, a fuge sounds great! Especially the florida scene!
