I have a ASM G4 plus that looks like I may have a pump problem. Not sure yet because my wife called and said that it was making loud noises and no water going into the skimmer. My question is this, I know I've heard that the Oceanrunner seams to be a better pump than the Sedra that is on it. Is there any other pumps out there that would work better that anyone has experience with and how would they plumb up to this (easy or much modification needed)?

I know this is a really silly question ... but did water evaporate/leak past pump intake?

I used in inner lining of some swim trunks to cover the inlet to my skimmer, works great.

Not sure yet. Was with my daughter at hospital with wife from after I got off of work until late last night. She didn't get home with her until about 5:00 this morning, just a bug of some sort but her temp got to 104 and we couldn't get it down. Needles to say the skimmer was last thing on my mind. I'm going to look at it tonight and see if I have a snail that crawled up into it or something. Hopefully it didn't tear off too many of the needles off of the impeller if so.
I had just remembered hearing someone talk about upgrading their ASM/ER to the Oceanrunner needle wheel pump and seemed to like it better than the Sedra. Just curious in case the whole pump ends up needing replacement.

Wow, Cliff, I'm glad she's o.k. now. Hopefully she'll get over it quickly.
Personally I'd check in to if an Ehiem NW would fit.

Now that's another thought also. I'll look into that, of course hopefully there's just a snail clogging it up at this time.

Finally got to pull it all apart Friday evening and found out the empeller came apart more or less. Attempted to glue it back together but Gorilla glue didn't take (didn't think that was possible with past experience). Pump appears to be good still so I'll just buy a new impeeler for this one for now. Maybe try to epoxy old one back later and play with a little modification.

She's doing good. She came home and by Friday evening she was back to her normal self. The only thing they could figure was that she had a short virus bug or something.
