Humidity Question

Is 50% humidity high for a room? I thought so and I bought a dehumidifier 2 days ago and it only goes down to 35%. I can't tell a diference in the room but should I be able to?

For $250 should I return it? The room is a 14X14 office with my 70 gallon. Plus it seems to be making things hotter.

50% is not bad at all. I'd return it. Humidity is higher than that in my fishroom and I still don't use my dehumidifier, it just pumps out too much hot air.
