Hey maastards I just bought a little zoanthid attached to a small piece of rock and once I added it to my tank I watched a brownish looking worm several inches in length begin to crawl out of the rock.

He kind of looks like a hacksaw al the way around.

I removed the rock and of course he's hiding now, but I wanted to find out if this guy is safe or not before putting it back into my tank.

I have a 120gal with LR and Softies.

Thanks,
Rob

I just found it on google and I guess it's a Bristle worm.

Do you think he's a threat? I got both sides from google.

Normaly, if in fact it is a bristle worm and not a fire worm, theyre reef safe for the most part, its when they get larger that people have claimed them to eat snails and whatever. Ive had huge ones in my tanks and never had a problem, as long as theres plenty for them to eat, they should behave.

Thanks JimD, I think it's a bristle worm. So I'm hoping he'll just be a good little guy and apply for a position with the clean-up crew....there's openings for the graveyard shift :)

Any easy way to tell if it's a fire worm? They kind of look the same to me...except the fire worm seems more red.
