I have been researching, but have not been able to find a definite ID on this algae. It is greenish, and when I scrape it off the glass it comes off in a powdery form. It does not grow in strands, and it doesn't spread to anything else. It comes off easily, but starts sticking back to the glass in a short time. It isn't causing a problem as far as I can tell, but scraping the glass a few times a day is a bit annoying.

Sorry for the picture quality (or the lack there of). That is the reflection of my foxface, he isn't actually that fuzzy.

Thanks for any help on the ID,

Billy

I get the same algae in my reef. Only on the glass. No idea what it is but I find that cutting back on light and frequent water changes are the best thing.

It the free algae particles in your water settling on your glass. Snails really love it, but it can be a pain to scrape on a daily basis. If it is showing up frequently do frequent water changes and maybe use a UV sterilizer to help kill off some of those floating algae particles.

Thanks guys. I do a 12%-15% water change weekly, and I had already planned on adding several more snails to my tank, so I'm sure they will help.

Again thanks for the info,

Billy
