Ok! You guys are light years beyond me in working with corals. I would like to start working with Gorgonians for my seahorse tanks. Where can I buy good specimens? What do they need? Clueless in San Antonio.

WetWebMedia (http://www.wetwebmedia.com/seafans.htm)

That should give you some good info. Good specimens can be found at most of the sponsor's stores!

Thats a good link Erik

There are photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic the non ones are actually pretty hard to keep just b/c most people do not feed them and they need phyto to survive.

We have two of the photosynthetic ones and they have been doing great for years.

This (http://sealifeinc.net/catalog/index.php?cPath=22&osCsid=8e7a4e55b4695f26767626ec170214ae) is a good place for getting gorgonians & info on them. I believe he also has or gets silver/spiny gorgonians, another photosynthetic and hardy species.

They are nice additions to seahorse tanks but I do notice that given a choice the horses will prefer to hitch to macro algaes or artificial hitches rather than the gorgonians.

Thanks guys. I knew I could count on all of you. My seahorses love to hide in the macro algae or branch rock. I want the coral to add color and give me something else to work on. Feeding and phyto are not a problem. I will start with photosynthetic species until I learn more. I've read WetWebMedia before for other things and did not think of going their for coral info. Since many of the enrichments I use for my seahorse foods were originally designed to feed corals, I should have plenty of food on hand. Thanks again. Cheryl
