This is a thread from us to them. I thought it would be great to give the vendor's a good chance to see what we would like to see them carry. This should be a long list! Please don't explain why or why not a store can carry this or that, just list what you would like them to carry. To specify, I do mean dry goods and not "MORE SPS CORALS" as someone would likely say.

Salifert test kits!

RO filter systems, membranes and filter media

I second that.

Metal Halide bulbs. VHO bulbs. Reactor parts (calcium and kalk). Solenoids, Tanks, check valves, controllers/monitors, the reactors themselves...

Its far fetched to keep those in stock when you can order it through the LFS....but its a nice dream to walk in and see it. :)

Clean tanks.

Resource knowledge and the staff to support it. By resources I mean books of reference both for sale and sets for referencing purchases. I think shops should really try to sell more information to customers. The Tek in Austin has a nice library of reference materials and many of the staff members know where to find the information for potential buyers.

Having a library and encouraging customers to use it is a great idea. The old aquarium sales and service had just that, even comfy chairs to sit and read. It would be great if a store carried some of the non-aquarium products used in the hobby, like dowflake, magflake, pickling lime, and especially southdown sand. What are the chances? I've just suggested that the stores provide: 1)information that would probably lead to fewer impulse purchases and 2)low cost alternatives to stuff they currently sell. What do you think the Kent Marine sales rep is going to think when he strolls in for a visit and sees 50lbs of dowflake for the same price as 1lb of turbo calcium, and 5 lbs of pickling lime for less than...well you get the point.

LOL! I'll keep her company.

Clean tanks.
I'll second that. Clean tanks and well fed fish. I hate walking into a fish store and feeling 'sad' about the fish/coral being kept inside. I shouldnt feel like Im 'rescuing' every fish/coral we buy.

I know its expensive to carry expensive equipment and exotic fish so If I want one of those I tell them to order it.... but I would love if they had a lot of DIY equipment and maybe held classes or at least showed you how to build stuff and then sell it? DIY Skimmers, Light setups, and others..

t-5 stand offs, reflectors, and bulbs.
vho stand offs, basically more for lighting than the usual vho and pc bulbs sitting around.

Ditto I like doing this stuff but i am a very visual learner and it would help me to see how things are done better than just read about them and see a pic every once in a while during the process

B-Ionic, of course! What other dry goods do yall use on a regular basis? How about cheap clean-up crews? Hermit crabs at 1.70 a piece is just nuts right?

How about enough Salifert Alk test kits so that they don't ever run out? It seems anytime I'm in a LFS they are always OUT of the Alk kits.

Salifert never ships enough into the US. So everyone runs out sometimes.
