So I was just wondering ,with the heat starting to go up,what is everyones tank temp. Daytime temp-- Night time temp-- are you using a chiller-- or how do you plan on keeping you temperature under control?
My temp is 78 in the morning 80 in the afternoon I am running a chiller and fans in the canopy.

Barry,
Mine runs 78-81 - most of the time. Every once in a while creeps up to 82. No chiller, but I need one... I keep 2 of my access doors open during the day. Maybe this weekend I'll start the electrical work.

mine stays between 77- 80. Thanks to the Army we can live on base and not pay utilities. That means we can keep our AC real low......

I cant believe this .There have been 59 veiws to this thread and only 4 replies. I thought that there were more poeple than that on this site that have tanks. Come on its not that hard to post and it could be good info for others that will be haveing temp problems in the near future.

80 to 84 during the day... no chiller, and the AC is off... only a fan...
the anemones love it and the xenia and zoas are spreading... no SPS in my tank so I don't have to worry too much about keeping things really cool.... if the temps look like they are going to go higher I can always turn on the AC...

when i was running fans (before the 1st chiller) my tank was running 80 - 85 :o
put on the 1/3 hp chiller and the tank ran 79 - 82, but the chiller ran for 12 hours continuously in the daytime (undersized)
since going to the 1hp chiller, 78-79 is where the tank stays, and the corals have never looked better.

Since going to the 1hp chiller, how long does it run during the day?

it kicks on about every 45 minutes to an hour and runs for 5 to 10 minutes when it kicks on.

So the larger chiller worked out to be a energy saver since its more effecient.

Mine runs between 79-81. Fans in the light hood come on with halide. Air temps are usually around 74-76. I run a fuge light in a rear chamber with a fan in the housing for that opposite my tank lights.

Do rising tank temps promote cyano growth? My tank hit 84 about a week ago, usually 78 - 80, and ever since cyano went crazy. At first I had small amounts of cyano and some times none at all and now it is every where. I did pull a couple of dead snails out but besides that nothing is missing or dead. Anyone else seen unwanted algae growth when temps went up?

my tank is running no chiller @ 80-83, our A/C runs 24/7 @ 77. I keep Zoas and a few fish and a 12 inch clam, they seem happy. I am getting a chiller installed next week, so that I can add some coral. My only concern is the noise level, my tank is LOUD.

Higher temps do encourage nuisance algae growth from what I have read. That could be the cause of your problems. Especially if your parameters havent changed much.
