my tank has looked a little off for a couple of weeks, with less PE, color and even some recession at the bottom of some corals. i could not for the life of me figure out what was wrong - even ran the full battery of test - nothing unusual. well, in two days, everything has returned to normal, and even better on some corals. cant believe the PE on some of these....

Great shots Ace! You've got 2 corals that are on my 'wish list' ...the rainbow monti and the blue and green chalice. The rainbow is gorgeous...cough cough hint hint (Brian are you listening?).... ;)

thanks chrissy - it is actually a little more colorful than in the pic, for some reason the camera washed it out a little. when its big enough, you know you are welcome to a frag. also, have a couple of pieces that broke off of the chalice too ;) next time you are in town, come by.

Oh, I give up! I'm not buying any more corals. Seriously, serious tank Ace. Ever figure out what the "problem" was?

i think it was a combo of little things. changing to the bigger chiller dropped the daytime temps of the tank from 82 to 78 (was going from 79 at night to 82 during the day - now around 78 round the clock), feed pump to the calc reactor was a little clogged which slowed the effluent a bit, stirring pump on kalk reactor wasnt working bc the digital timer on it quit, and i spilled some carbon in the sump which kept clogging the beckett on the skimmer for a few days (only had to clean it out once today :roll ).
i did notice that my ORP was down about 10 or 20 pts for a couple of weeks, but has bounced back up to normal in the last couple of days also.

OK, so another vote for a chiller...
What mod did you make? Would mine benefit from it?
LOL on the carbon. It happened to me a couple of weeks ago. %$*#!

take the injector off and bring it to me. takes about 5 minutes, increases air intake and decreases bubble size. it involves plugging the 4 large holes and drilling lots of small holes in their place.

Don't forget, you get to use a smaller pump!!!!

Ace, I purchased a Canon Rebel XTi a couple of months ago. Great camera if I can figure out how to use it properly. I am wanting to purchase a macro/telephoto lens 70-200mm. Its obvious that your lens takes amazing pictures! Please share what new lens you purchased. I am looking at a Tamron, but as you might know they are rather cheap. Any suggestions? Are you using a macro flash for any of these pictures?
