it looks like you can get more bubbles with less powerful pump.

tried it on my skimmer. i usually get a gallon or so every 2 or 3 weeks of dark green/black liquid. the skimmer produced 1/2 gallon in only 24 hours after modding the beckett. still running a mag12, but the drain had to be opened up a little and i was able to let in more air with the air valve because the bubbles stayed smaller.

i plugged the original 4 large holes with pieces of plastic and super glue gel, and then drilled about 30 new holes with the smallest bit i could find in my shop, 5/64. if you do this, be careful to readjust your water level. before readjusting mine, it pulled a gallon of water out of my tank in about an hour.

Sooo.... Ace since you are the first one to try this do you think it is working better or worse? Give us your Pros and Cons of this Mod.

i think that it works better because i am not using a pressure rated pump. the reviews in the RC thread were not good for people who were using pressure rated pumps. my skimmer worked well before the mod, this just tweaked it a little.
