Since it's raining today, I'm "playing" with my tank. I put a ball valve between the retun pump and the return outlet so that I could keep the water from siphing back down to the sump when I'm working, doing water changes, etc.

Now I'm just wondering if I should throttle back the pump a bit so that the water level is completely below the center brace. I've been tinkering with it, and it seems like I get better, more even flow with it dialed back a bit. Does it really matter if the water level is touching the center brace's glass? Will this glass stay cleaner with the water level higher or lower?

Give me some opinions, please.

a matter of opinion i guess. some might say it is too high for the integrity of the tank.. i say not. i had a 150 running for quite a while with the water touching the center brace, its just more of a pain when you have to clean it because you get your hands in the water.. it will grow algae just as quick as your front glass.. bottom line i would dial it back just a bit so it doesnt touch..JMO
