unfortunatley, I think the CCD (imager) on my nikon coolpix is fried, it is taking very dull pictures, and adding a very very warm cast to all the photos. :( I may be purchasing that D80 sooner than i thought.

Anyhow, I will try to get some good pics out for you... but for now:

can anyone give me a firm id on this hitcher?

looking for an Id... i suspect Zoanthid Eating Nudi... (since i only bought a paly, a sun coral, and a n anemone (they gave me a free colony of zoas.)

Looks strangely familiar to a zoa eating nudi. Dip the freebie zoa colony and check for nudi eggs, just in case. Ya really don't need those suckers hitchhiking into your tank.

that was it!

I dipped the colony in lugols, 2 more fell off. I looked for eggs, couldn't find any.

for a freeby it's pretty cool, i think the skirt is brown, can't tell for sure yet, but the centers are a really bright orange.

There is no such thing as FREE! Ive seen so many people's reefs destroyed to the point of no return due to freebies.. DIP DIP DIP!..:D

oh i dipped, have no fear.

now comes the fun part, I am going into the room to look at the tank liek every 5 minutes.

the anemone came in about 2 inches accross, and has swelled to about 4.. I think it may even get up to 6... not sure...

i have seen the female clown mouthing it. she is taking the tentacles into her mouth and holding them there, then releasing them. from what i can see, there is absolutely zero damage to the anemone from this procedure... it's incredibly entertaining. i love the clown/anemone relationship.. it's just awesome.

the black/green sun coral has allready come out, and accepted some food.

lunar palys are open after the dip, i got a few more than i paid for but they are all very small.

overall I am satisfied, even w/ the nudi issue, no eggs that i can see, and a good dip.. happy w/ the corals.

on the off chance i may have picked up a nudi i can't account for, I am prepared to keep dipping, but i think I am ok. I am really wishing I had a quarantine tank.. but that is simply not possible where i am living right now. :(

oh, and the anemone is a strikingly dark shade of orange, but by no means bloody colored... we'll see what it looks like when it is fully expanded. I am by no means dissatisfied! i can allready tell it is an absolutely premium specimen.
