I don't get it

Has anyone else had fish disappear on them? (Well, of course you have.) But, where do they go?

I got 6 green chromises the other day. I had them in a rubbermade tub 'cause I was I was getting my new tank set up. I know one of them got sucked into a maxijet while it was in the tub (-1). When I got the new tank up and running, there were only four left in there (-2). I put all four in the new tank last night and another one just didn't make it (-3). That SHOULD leave three swimming around in there. But, this morning, there's only one left (-5). (I'm not that good with numbers, even though I teach math for a living. But, I'm PRETTY sure on this one. ;) )

I need a new clean-up crew, so I don't think the few crabs in there could have gotten them. In fact, there were no crabs in the rubbermaid tub at all. I do have two bubble tips, but they were in a different rubbermaid tub, and I don't think they would've gotten them in the tank, either.

I don't see them on the floor. We have a cat, but I can't imagine he got to them in the tubs or even if they jumped out of the tank.

Where could they be? This has happened before, but only with individual fish, not groups as a time. I just figured before that they were crab food or something.

was there rock in the tub? perhaps a mantis is the culprit.

Do you have live rock??? Unless the tank is bare. Assume it is in the live rock where you will never find it unless you take it all out. And it will be under the very last rock you remove!!!

I have about 80-90 lbs. of liverock. It was split between 2 of the tubbs. I didn't see anything when I took the rock out of the old tank, or when I put it in the new tank from the tubbs. Could a mantis be hiding in the rock when I take it out of the water?

I've spent many nights looking at the old tank with only the mmon lights on and didn't see anything. Any other ideas?

I've found the problem. All three MIA chromises made it into the overflow and down into the sump. Of course, I couldn't see them because they went directly into an acrylic box that I made to house the carbon for a modified Hiatte system.

Now, I have a fire fish missing, though. I bought 2 of them when I got the chromises. I've found one of them in his hiding spot under a rock. Can't find the other one, though. It's not in the sump or caught in the plumbing 'cause I took it all apart when I found the chromises. Hopefully he'll be out tomorrow at feeding time!

Hey Mr Cool, today I was about to clean out my skimmer receptacle, and I found my yellow tailed puffer had somehow made its way....
First the overflow box, which would mean it had to "leap" in there.
Second, through the u tubes, I was wondering why my overflow was functioning so oddly (loud)
Third into the seond half of the overflow
Fourth, down the tube and into the wet/dry.

It's not a small fish either, when I removed it from the sump, it was grunting at me all ticked off. I was tickled
