I have a 192 watt PC over my tank and this morning it will not turn on. The fans are running but the bulbs will not fire. Do these lights have starters separate from the ballast? How long can my tank go without intense light? I have zoa's, mushrooms, frogspawn, bubble, and others. I also have a GBTA that I am most worried about. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Todd

The corals will be fine without light for a day or so. How old is the fixture and what brand is it? Try calling the manufacturer and see if the ballast went out. They should have some sort of tech service or atleast someone to guide you in the right direction.

Does it have 1, 2, or 3 cords to plug in? Typical 2 - 96 watt lamp fixtures have two ballast so you can do the dusk till dawn effect. And the ballast should be electronic without starters. If it is just a one ballast fixture it should be a workhorse 7. Which is readily available. Maybe it is just a switch, some of the later CF fixtures used low voltage fans and ran off a different switch.

It is the 2 cord system and only has 2 switches one for PCs and one for moon lights (leds). Know where to pick a ballast locally?

Unplug your unit and open it up to see if the light company used this brand

American light has a store locally and in Austin. You can also order online takes about a day.
