I was thinging about useing a black light for my moon light. any thoughts!

I tried looking at my nano with a black light once and nothing really showed up. I don't think the UV (or near UV)range of light that it gives off can penetrate water very well. You might be able to see into the tank a bit but it probably won't look like what you'd expect.

I think I heard once that using a black light can be damaging, I don't recall the author of the thread actually saying what the problem was. Other options are cold cathode lights, similar to mini neon tubes.

Someone told me christmas lights! Would kinda be neat to use the ones that pulse very slowly, it would emulate the stars twinkling! LoL spoiled fish! Those CRTs are air tight I would presume, due to gasses inside the tube itself. Nice for a tank!

I am with Mike on the black lights. I also read somewhere they are not a good idea.
