It seems as if a few my rocks are starting to discolor and turn white from a beautiful purple almost overnight. I recently took them out and re arranged them and rinsed them off. My main question is if there is anything to do with the water that would turn them white overnight? I just performed a 25%water change. Thanks - Andrew

Did they turn white after you took them off and rinsed them, and if so what did you rinse them with? If it was fresh water you have have killed the coraline algae that was on them. It should grow back pretty good if you still have some growing in your tank though.

yes it was freshwater, but I have done it once before a month ago and had no problems. I do have nice coraline algae growth going in my tank so i guess ill just have to wait it out.

If you ever rinse them off again it would be best to use saltwater. I've done it in the past and all I did was pulled some water out of the tank into a clean container and used it to brush off some hair algae.. Then I refilled the tank with fresh saltwater killng two birds with one stone.
