lighting in my 29 gallon again

i was wondering is it possible to have too much lighting. Currently I have 9.2 watts per gallon is this too much or is it the more the better?

150 watt metal halide and 120 watts of pc

When I had my 29g I had a 250w metal halide supplimented by 2 x 75w vho. I didnt have any problems with that combo.

A lot depends on what you intend to keep in the tank and if you have any plans to upgrade in the future.
