In time all will be well. Expect a diatom algae bloom from the "dust" in about 2 weeks. Don't panic, it will disappear within 2 weeks. After that your tank will quickly settle and be ready for use.

Yup, that is what happens. Ditto to what Mike said. Make sure you have a little flow to move the water around. You can add a hang on filter to speed the removal of the extra 'dust' but if you wait it will settle.

If you haven't already, add some live sand now. It will seed the rest of your sandbed. If you need some, post on MAAST and someone will most likely donate some to you or sell it cheap to help you get started. MAAST is a great club for helping. You only need a couple of cups. As the bacteria attaches to the dust particles, it will settle down even more. Until then, you'll get sandstorms everytime you move your sand even a little bit. Live rock will start the process also. The bacteria in the sand and rock is a good thing.

Just don't get in a hurry. It will go through several different algea blooms as it cures, but they will take care of themselves in time.
