Anyway, what does it eat if you have no aptasia? :( :unsure I do have a couple that I have my eyes on.

rob,
they also eat featherdusters and will nip at clams if I am not mistaken.
this is something you should really consider before you purchase the fish! :)
i think some people here have them eating mysis, but i am not sure.

mine will eat PE brand of mysis shrimp but it had to be taught how to eat when I got it. I've had mine for over 7 years now but this is definitely not the norm. Once aiptasia are gone if the fish has not been switched over to eating food they mostly do starve to death. If you only have a few aiptasia I'd definitely use Joes juice, lemon juice, peppermint shrimp or a kalk paste in stead trying these awesome fish. Mine never did touch the aiptasia anyway.

I didn't bring mine home until it ate mysis at the store. It has done well, but has beaten up feather dusters I've put in after it was established. I got away with adding a large pink coco worm, so now I have 2 pink ones and 2 large regular feather-dusters that are not being harrassed, but purple and gold cocos I tried had to be taken out - one later died in my fuge. Never touched a clam - so far anyway. I've had it about a year. I had to use Joe's Juice on the big aiptasia - he didn't eat those, but he got the little ones and I haven't had a single new one crop up since getting him. He's not interested in Majano anemones, by the way. Loves mysis, takes brine, no interest in pellets or small stuff.

ive had mine for a couple of days and havent seen him nip at aptasia once. is this a case by case basis on aptasia, or will he eventually eat it?

I had one before that would pick at the aptaisia but never really ate it. Didn't ever bother either of my clams but I didn't have feather dusters in the tank so can't say much on that. I have heard that they will pretty much destroy your fether dusters, but have heard the same on the pepermint shrimp also.

GaryP has had lots of great success with CBBs. He feeds several times per day. As I recall, they eat best right before the lights come on in the morning. Buy some black mussells at Central Market or HEB, open one up and drop it in the tank. Keep the rest in the freezer until you need them. Apparently, keeping them fat is the key to keeping them healthy. Feed AT LEAST twice per day...easy for these to starve.

Both of mine eat aptasia, and just about anything else you throw in. Mine in my big tank eats ANYTHING right out of my hand - he owns the tank with some BIG tangs in it! I feed my fish a mixed diet - Richard at CB recommended it. I combine about 10 kinds of frozen food in a big bowl, then re-freeze it. I alternate that with seafood blend from seafood from HEB that I grind up.

once I added my powder blue and it got all my other fish in line it has yet to even look at my copperband. And that is a good thing cause nothing bothers my copperband and lives to tell about it.

Well it's been a week and it is doing great, the yellow tang has chilled out and the CBB swims freely as it pleases andLOVES mysis

it's funny how much these fish love that mysis shrimp. Heaven forbid I ever run out of mysis and not get to the LFS. And it has to be the PE brand too. LOL.
