So I was looking at my tank today and catch a glimpse of something green way back under the rocks,, come to find out it was one of the very first tubes i used when i started putting corals in my tank.
i guess it fell in and sank to the bottom without me noticing it. had to be at least 6 months ago.. there was no rust on it but i did have coralline growing on it :) needless to say my tank has a more open look to it after 4 hours of removing and re-setting corals

I've been using those 'single' servings of shrimp with the foil lids. I've seemed to drop a few in while tossing the shrimp into the tank. Well those green star polyps have started to grow over them!

Aluminum doesn't rust. Was it covered in coraline?

it does oxidize though, but the oxidization forms a barrier preventing further corrosion.

nope the green stars covered it before the coraline did!
