i've got a nice shelf rock with GSP's, Hairy mushrooms and some SPS's on it..

the GSP's are stinging the SPS's and i want to kill them off. I have tryed to pull them off with a dental scraper and similar tools with no luck.

I'm thinking about pulling the rock out of the tank. Have a large bucket of ro water ready to dip the parts with the GSP's on it and squirt around the base of the sps's. after i put some lemon/lime juice on them to kill them.

do you think this will work?

if i could pull them off by the sheet and sell/give them away i would. but haven't had any luck getting them off.

i use my coral nippers (bone cutters) to break a thin layer of rock off with them, so i dont leave any little bits behind and i can sell/give them away.

well i can't get under them to do so. it is growing on a flat piece of shelf rock. i've tryed a nife and scraper to get under and pull them off. but the rock has to many holes and cracks. i tryed the chipping and breaking already. just trying to find something easier.

wont you be able to get to them if you do this?

yea i can get to them, but i can't get them off the rock. i'm thinking of the lemon juice as an acid to kill them off. i've pulled the rock out 3 times already to try to pull, lift the gsp's off. now i'm just going to acid kill the **** things. i hope it works.

well, what i was saying was to cut a thin layer of rock off with them, so there is no way there are any of them left behind. im sure lemon juice or a paste of kalk would do the job.

Since there's other corals you want on the rock, I'd vote for kalk paste for the job. Ya don't want lemon juice accidently dripping onto the other corals and damaging them. GOOD LUCK!

Maybe be easier to pull off the Hairy mushrooms and some SPS and leave the GSP's to cover the rock.

I was going to say just what Ben said. When I went halide I nuked a 14"x 14" patch that had grown in my tank from a 6x6 patch.
