The tank is about 2 months old, no coral yet- I'm waiting on my light upgrade and skimmer. The pictures are kind of cloudy, I had just scrubbed for algae and moved a powerhead.

The aquascaping isn't exactly how I want it yet. I had it placed PERFECTLY and accidentally hit a rock and ruined the whole thing.

The A-hole cleaner that ate my two firefish. I've actually seen him hunt and chase fish.

My favorite fish ever. He is only 2.5" and has been eating live and frozen since I got him 3 days ago. He chases the stupid cleaner shrimp around its hilarious.
And I had to throw this picture in-My new female gargoyle gecko I just got today! I love her.

Wow that is a great price for that wrasse. I may have to stop into Polly's. Its odd that you shrimp is eating fish. Usually they only eat them if they are dead or sick. Nice tank!

The cleaner shrimp in my last tank was the same way. He ate my sixline wrasse and went after my dwarf lion (only like 2") but luckily I caught him as he was chewing away at the fins. It was so sad to see the lion struggle to get away. I ended up giving the shrimp to someone with more aggressive fish and after that, my fish stopped disappearing.

That's crazy about the shrimp. Mine gets along just fine with his tank mates. He sometimes harrases the clown, but he's just trying to clean her, not eat her. Your tank looks pretty nice, though. I love the Wrasse!

AHHHHHHHHH. Its sad how much I hate this hobby sometimes.
2 fish went missing in the last 2 days. One of those including my leopard wrasse. I COMPLETELY tore apart the tank but I couldn't find any bodies (on the brighter side my aquascaping looks better.) I tested my tank: Ammonia- 0 Nitrite- 0 Nitrate- 0 PH- 8.2 Salinity- 1.023
My only guess is a mantis shrimp that has waited until I added my beloved leopard wrasse to start eating my fish. Any other ideas? This one I can't blame on the cleaner shrimp. I guess tonight I will have to make a trap and hangout with a flashlight.

just a suggestion but if you got some of your rock from pollys double check it to see if there was a hitchhiking eel. Maybe like the one maggie brought home. LoL luckily we saw it that same night who knows what he could have done.

ive had most of the rock since the beginning of the tank. i got some a couple weeks ago but i really don't think a mantis shrimp could hide in the new pieces- but i guess they fit in smaller places than i can imagine. its weird though because i did find one body eventually- a green chromis, just the 'skin' but absolutely no sign of the leopard wrasse. i moved my rock, siphoned the sand, took apart the filter, etc. im still holding my breath that he is hiding in his little rock.

I know he ate them, I watched that, but that is normal for any shrimp to start devouring a dead fish. I have seen him chase my newer fish around but I haven't seen him kill any of them. It isn't a common thing for cleaner shrimp to kill fish, I am just paranoid because the cleaner shrimp I had in my last tank did start killing and eating my fish. I wasn't sure why they were dying until one day I watched him hunt and catch my dwarf lion. Once I got rid of him I had no problems. I think my problem now is a mantis shrimp or something in my liverock. It is a small tank so they wouldn't have any problems grabbing a fish.

WHEW! That leopard wrasse is a punk for leading me on such a frantic search, but I'm glad he decided to come out from hiding just now.
Maybe I don't have a mantis, just paranoia.

I was going to tell you to check the sand, but you said you sifted it. My wrasse loves burrowing in the sand. Glad its still alive.

Just wanted to say I had a cleaner shrimp as well and it munched a bi color sudo-chromis, royal gramma, green chromis, and a cleaner wrasse. I thought I was really doing something wrong with loosing all of these fish until one day I swapped it for a different fish and all of the sudden all of my fish were fine. I even added the royal grama again and haven't lost any other fish since. Crazy huh.
