Ive used a pipe cleaner or something for the past year now as a poker. Only recently has it rusted and i dont know why now... Anyways, what do yall do if any of yall have a poker? I liked it so i didnt have to stick my hands in there all the time and get my arm all wet. Lmk

Bamboo skewers. The ones used for shish-ka-bobs. They are cheap, disposable and bamboo so no worry about rust.

My 24 gallon NC is ~20 inches to the bottom so I am very familiar with the concept of a "pokin stick." I use a wire hanger that is coated in plastic. It is ~24 inches long. I don't leave home without it, :P .

Those are good ideas. How long are the bamboo skewers? and i dont think ive ever seen a wire hanger coated in plastic that's bendable, ill have to check my closet. Keep the ideas comin'!

And where did you get that idea from?

As you can probably tell I use the same thing. I like it because I can bend it if I need to get into a tight spot. My crabs are always knocking frags on the sand bed over so it comes in handy.

...And where did you get that idea from?...

I developed this idea in partnership with NASA. We called the project "The Initiative for Wire Hanger Pokin Sticks."

These are the wire hangers that are usually white or some other assorted colors (rather than just a silver or brass color).

Rigid airline tube. I think it comes in 3 foot sections. It is really inexpensive.

Take one of those plastic rods (for opening and closing) off of your blinds if you have them on a window that you never open. I have one that I've been using for years, it was fun as heck to play around with a mantis shrimp I had at one point with it. Man would he go after that thing when I'd stick it by him.

Thats a really good idea too and i will use that when i need to get in those areas that are tricky by bending it like you said

and ping i prolly wouldve gone with that had those rods not already been in the house. Great ideas everyone, thanks

The bamboo is only 10-12" long. ): But they are very rigid for their size. I would like to find longer ones.

i like to use a piece of rigid tubing attached to a large syringe. this way you can use the suction to grab small zoo, shroom, ric frags to move them around when the hermits redecorate. of course it's a great spot feeder too.
