I will be going out of town for a few weeks in April and will be boarding my doggie but need someone to just check on my tanks and feed my cat. Anyone know of a reliable pet sitter who knows something about aquariums in the Austin area?

I'm willing to try and help if needed. Professional help could be found at Kingfish Aquariums on Burnet as their main focus is tank maintenance and setup.

We are going to the Bahamas in May for about a week, and I am worried about the same thing....
However, we have several pets (ahem...ZOO):
1 dog, 2 cats, 1 freshwater tank, 1 reef tank, 1 seahorse tank, a bearded dragon, and a hedgehog. :huh
I am begining to wonder how to arrange the care. :o
The seahorses optimally need to be fed twice a day, the hedgehog cage would need to be cleaned once or twice during the week, and the cat litter would need to be scooped every day. I have a strong feeling this is going to be a tough order to fill!! :blink

Do you have a friend or relative that can stay at your place? If not I would kennel the dog and cats. Take the dragon and the hedgehog to a friends house. Hire someone to feed your tanks. Feeding the seahorses will be tough.

I was thinking of using 2 different people for the fish. One to feed the seahorses in the morning and one in the evening. That way my tanks get checked on twice a day, too.
I probably will need to kennel my cats at least. Tabitha likes to sneak out of the house, and I would be so nervous that something would happen to her. I may be able to take my dog to my parent's house. The lizard is SUPER easy. Just take out a tube from the cricket keeper and shake it in the cage, give him some fresh veggies and he's good to go. The hedge hog is easy, too...except the cage cleaning could be a turnoff for some.
Sorry for the hi-jack! >_<
I can help out too if you need it. What part of Austin are you in?
