I want to get a small tang (as little as i can find) but what i want to know is how small maybe too small? If i can find one thats real tiny is that very risky? or is it going to be as risky as getting any other fish?

I just got one from fin addict last week, about 1-1/2 to 2" long. Small little fella, but has a voracious appetite! I dont believe you can find them any smaller, but I may be wrong. What size tank are you considering putting him into? They can grow quite large very quickly with proper diet, and this shouold be taken into consideration when getting a regal/blue tang..... Mine is in a 110g right now, but he will move into a new 250+ by this time next year, as he will outgrow the 110. Good luck... Erick

i wanted the same thing! I got one a little bigger than a nickle but not bigger than a quarter died within a week. Dont know how all levels were ok and other fish were perfect! He was even eating very good also now i got one a little bigger than 2.5" and is doing great! I think if your lucky you can get one that small but thats your risk bro!

Small juvenile fish have to be fed more times per day. If you have a well established tank and feed often you should be fine. If you purchase one make sure he is fat and healthy, good luck. The regals I have had, stayed in the rocks all the time except when it was feeding time and then they where the biggest pigs alive.
