Ok I am new at putting a reef system together and I want to turn my 25 gallon into a reef system and would like some pointers or ideas on where to go from here. Eventually I would like to grow some SPS in this system so I would really like to make sure its right. Here is a list of the equipment that I have and I plane to get.

I Have:
25 gallon bowfront and stand
Emperor 400 HOB

I plan on buying the following...

24" HQI + PC either strip or pendant thinking 280W (150HQI 2x65PCs)
Refugium(around 10-15 gallons)
Skimmer( not sure of whice yet but will have to fit in the fuge)
HOB overflow(drilling not an option w/this tank)
Return pump (not even sure where to start here...brand,size,flow)
Wave timing/making system...was looking at the Maxi-jet wavemaker system...Any recomendations here for our tank size?

35-40lbs LR

Will the Emperor filter, fuge, and skimmer be enough filtration or will I want to go with a sump as well? The reason I ask is that the below tank space is limited to only 12x14" and would want to keep the height below 15".

Your thoughts?

First thing I would do is ditch the emperor all together. What king of fuge are you talking about? If youre going with a sump, you can integrate the refugium into it and have a chamber for the return pump.
LifeReef overflowbox (the best/most reliable)
ASM Mini Skimmer (small foot print and a good little skimmer)
Current outer orbit 24" HQI/PC (fixture is nice)
Mag5 (or Mag7) return pump on a SCWD (that will take care of wave making and return pump)
