Mine hovers between 9 and 11DKH. That's one scale. One reads out 180 give or take, ppm. Another is about 4.5 mql if I remember correctly. Now if I've heard correctly proper ALK and PH are way more important than CA. So if your CA is right at 400 or just a little under and your KH is to low, it may bring better reults to raise it first. I could have it mixed up so don't take my word for it.

What does everyone use to raise dKH?? I am currently dosing with B-ionic (2pt) and have used reef builder in the past.

The easiest and cheapest way to quickly raise your dkh is with baking soda. There's a good calculator on this site:

I use KW and Randy Holmes-Farley's DIY 2 part Ca and Alk suplement. The ingredients are calcium chloride, baking soda, and R.O. water. Baking soda is dirt cheap, and I was lucky to find a 50 lb bag of dowflake for $20 from a fellow MAAST member, it should last years.

All of my tanks run 11-13dkh, I dose w/ purple up occasionally, but use tap for water changes and top off. Crushed coral in one tank 50g, med aragonite in another 30g, and sugar fine in yet another 110g- for substrates- and all are well. Not many corals, (5-2"+ acro frags, couple of mushrooms, a few zoas, some yellow polyps, 4" branch of torch coral, couple of montis, gorgonians in the 50g---8" toadstool, couple of acro frags, in the 30g--- and FOWLR in the 110g) TONS of coralline algae both red and purple. I only use Reef Crystals, but I did have a precipitation event in my 110g at one time >_< ...
