not sure if this is the right group but I am checking to see if anyone might be interested in an eel? I don't know much about it yet but I will see it tomorrow. I think he said it was blue with like stripes on it and and eel like tail?

Also, do I need to watch for bites? Dou you use a big net, snake stick, hands? Anyone know?

It's currently in a putrid (everything else died except for 1 chromis) 40 gal, I will try and put it in my 75 hospital til I can find a home for it.

Rob get ahold of me. A friend of mine has a dedicated 150g that houses only a few eels. My friend might be seriously interested.

Pm sent.

Rob,

Sounds like a blue-ribbon eel? If so, make sure the tank you put it in has a secure lid. When I kept eels, they were the most prone to jump. It seems like once their body is part way out of the tank, gravity takes over and sends them carpet surfing.
Catching should be relatively easy, a large net (or 2) or just take the rock it hides in out. I've never had any eel bite me, but be careful doing squid impressions while your hand is in the water.

Good luck!

ok I got this thing home aand put it along with the rock I got out the deal in my hospital/qt tank and I don't think it is an eel at all. She said it was a goby?? It's about a foot long and is kinda blueish grey body with light colored stripes across the top of his body and yellow around the gills, a rounded face (unlike the pointy nose of an eel), a tail similar to an eel, and a big mouth. When it comes out i'll try and get a picture of it.

Guess I'll keep it for a minute and see how it does - Mike your 1st in line if I decide to get rid of it.

Any clue what it might be let me know! TIA

Sounds like an engineer goby to me.

Last case would be if it had whiskers, a saltwater striped catfish.
