Does anyone have experience or knowledge about the compatibility of keeping regular Ocellaris or True Percs with Black Ocellaris ? Will they mate, pair up or share a host? Can they co-exist in same tank peacefully?

if you have enough room in the tank there should be no problem.

So that is a yes then to my questions? I was just thinking about getting one of each and hoping they might pair up and share a host. That would be too cool. Have 200gal tank but would only like 1 pair.....but very much like the True Perc and the Black Osc. Any recommendations on a host? I have seen a Rose Bubble tip that had a pair of Percs in it ...loked very attractive. I know most say Carpet Anemone but I know they can host with many other things also. My buddy had his host anemone die and his Perc took his big clam as a host!. Anyways, aas just looking for cool ideas. Thanks much.

When you purchase them make sure you get the same species if you want them to pair up. I would ask just to make sure but I believe the onyx clowns are actually perculas and not ocellaris, so if you want a pair get a regular percula. They are generally distinguished from one another by the black stripe between the white. Perculas have a larger black stripe while the ocellaris have a thin black line around the white stripe. If you want the black one mated I would go for the true percula, they generally cost a little more than the ocellaris. As far as hosting I believe they will host in just about anything that gives them cover. Mine jumps between my hammer, torch and frogspawn corals.

Okay sorry to rant but I like talking about clowns and I want to help you get the right ones. Apparently there is a black ocellaris , just not sure how common it is. Pictured are a onyx percula and a black ocellaris. Just make sure when you buy that you get a matching pair. If you get the right ones dont worry about getting male and female. These fish are able to change sexes. The more dominant larger fish is the female and the smaller one male. If keeping more than 2 the others will be sexually repressed until one of the pair dies, and the next one takes its place. They kinda left that part out in Finding Nemo :lol
