Think there is any chance in saving any part of it? It looks like there is still some flesh in the middle there.

I dont think any body was to blame, it was packaged nicely, no leaks, got it on time. Just DOA. Although the shipper said it included a heatpack and it didnt, maybe the water temp was too cold?

Efflos are difficult enough, mix that with cold water shock and you see the end result. Id contact the seller and let him know there was no heat pack, maybe he'll send you another one and possibly split shipping.

Sorry about that Sean. I was wondering though.... It looks like there is some green algae growth in the skeleton and is that cyano in the middle? I'm just wondering how that could happen with overnight shipping. Any chance he sent you a dead coral?

Like Jim said, this looks like what happens when a coral and sps in particular gets shocked from cold and add shipping to that. If there was no heat pack that is the shippers fault. In this time of the year you have got to add 1 heat pack if not more. Frags and colonies can't take the cold and bags full of saltwater will get really cold in shipping. Been there done that, didn't like the outcome. Thats sad cause this looked like it was a very nice coral and this sure was not Sean's fault. Shipper needs to pay up or make you some kind of deal here.
If the coral and or bag water had that dead smell then it was not shipped dead as then there would of been no smell.

i say throw it in a tank, sometimes life springs up from nothing from coral skeletons.

The water was brown and I could smell it before I opened the styro. The shipper is better known as elite reef out of FL.
They have also agreed the lack of heat contributed to its demise and are going to send me another efflo/soli free of charge

thats when you know it's bad, when you can smell it before you open the box. Just guess I don't understand why if they agreed with you on the lack of a hand warmer was the problem, they did not put 1 in there to begin with. Anyway, just glad they are going to do the right thing for you.

Because they were shiping to TX and we all know it never gets cold in TX. I judt wish I had so many efflos as to be able to just send a replacement.

Yeah, they said they usually get one efflo/soli about every 2 weeks so I guess its just a waiting game for me.
