I have to say I really like my SE 12k's. I've had them for about 2 months, and the spectrum really didn't change too much (at least to my eye). Not too much blue, I can definitely do without supplementation. And for the record, I have the 250w running on a PFO mag ballast.

My 175's are 8 months old and still perfect. When I first got them I ran them off of Mag ballast but then switched over to electronic and they where 25% brighter with the electronic. They are one of the few lamps made for electronic/pulse start ballast.

i will post a side by side comparison of the reflux 12k and the hamilton 10k later this evening... i really like the 10ks but with my background, a little too yellow.. i'm hoping i will get the same growth but see more color with the 12 ks

I will be interested in seeing the comparison. So far the 250w 12k Reeflux are on the top of my list :)

I just got my DE in 2 days ago so I'm nowhere close to being burned in yet. I am really hoping to see the growth I was getting from the 10Ks.

I'm running 2 - 250W SE 12K on my 77 gal and 2-175W SE 12K on my 55 gal. I am very happy with the color and growth that I have with them. I do have VHO Actinics as supplimental lighting to bring out more color in the corals.
I just bought a Glass Cages 180 gal RR tank and I plan to use the 12K Reeflux on it also. I am thinking of having 3-400W 12K bulbs on electronic ballasts. Does Reeflux have 400W 12K bulbs? Any opinions on DE vs. SE?

I did not have good luck with 14k DE lamps from Coral Vue But the 12 K Reeflux SE are running strong going on 9 months using Coral Vues Electronic Ballast. And if your in the testing mode Coral Vue now has 400 w electronic dimming ballast. Not sure about the controls.

Texreefer, although the photo is a little grainy, I do like the color of the 12k on the right. I've pretty much made up my mind on using those bulbs.
Does Reeflux have 400W 12K bulbs?
I'd be interested too on if they have any 400w 12k DE bulbs on the market. Also if they have the 10k in a 400w DE. If not I may just go with XM 400w 10k.

I got mine from Polkster13 (Frederick) of Coral Reef Bazaar (sponsor). From what I remember, I could not find online prices that were better, plus I was local so there was no shipping.
Check out his website to see the current pricing. http://www.coralreefbazaar.com

Coralvue does NOT have a 400w Reeflux bulb that is DE. When I spoke to them a few months ago, they said that they would retail for $150+, and they felt that the market would not react positively to that price level. I have brand new 400w Hamilton DE 12Ks on mine right now - and I'm getting used to them. A little blue with my VHOs running too. You are welcome to come by and look. I'm at 281 just north of 1604.

hmmmm I may have to take you up on that. The tenative plan is to use 2 250w SE 12ks on the ends of the tank with 1 400w DE 10 or 12k in the middle. The middle bulb will only be run 2 hours or so a day for 'peak' sunlight. Thats the plan but doesn't mean I'm sticking to it :lol
And I'm not that far away from the area....I'm out in the center of Stone Oak ;)

Just give me a call = 663.8079. I work out of the house, and I'm here much of the day. And evenings, too, of course - except for Thurs night-Sun pm, 'cause I'm going hunting.

I just got these bad boys in and I must say I was blown away. I could tell the difference right away. The blue was phenomenal. I can't wait to see what they look like fully burnt in. Thanks to Randy at RCA for ordering these for me :D

I have had both the 10k's and 12k's SE 400 watt version. I love these bulbs. I like the 10k more myself, but I have alot of actinic supplementation.

I don't think I need supplementation with these bulbs. They have a nice crisp blue to them.
