Oh man, I just finally hooked up the leftover 1000w HM setup from Wolf Reef.

I picked it up from Ed's garage sale a couple weeks ago.

All I can say is OH MAN....it is sweet! Dead center in my tank with my 2 LumenArcIII's ---one at each end with 400w HQI in them.

I'm pretty darn happy....we'll see after the next power bill though and I'm sure my chiller will be working a little more!

Not sure on run time yet. Probably going to work up to about 2 hours a day run time on this bad boy.

I tried to take pictures...but it burned my lens up! :lol Just kidding.

About $35 a month, look at it as a dollar a day. Just give up a bar of candy or a beer a day and you have it covered

Sweet Alton...that's for a 2 hour run time?

Probably add some for the chiller running extra then too.

But not too bad....needed to loose some weight anyway! :lol

12 Hours a day for 30 days. Thats cheaper than going to a Tanning Salon, because the next time we see you at a meeting I am sure you will have the best Sun Tan around. Hey that's an idea, have the next meeting and all your guest will get a great tan.

Just a side note, not sure about where you live. I thought my power bill would only edge up $10 a month when I switched from 2x 150w to 2x 250w. Boy was I wrong. It went up about $75. I wasn't being penalized for over consumption before the switch but I am now. I get extra fees, charges, and higher rates. I'm hoping that with the cooler weather I'll be back to my normal rates before the switch.

geez Todd, you are going to have to wear one of those lava collecting suits (silver reflective ones) just to feed the fish now! :)

It's pretty sweet.

We'll see on the bill.

Todd, let us know what you end up seeing over time as far as acro coloration with the higer lighting. Funny, your increasing your lighting on your 215 and I am downgrading from 400w bulbs to 250w bulbs on my 215. So far I think I am getting some better coloration on some pieces. Need more time to tell for sure though but one green acro is now purple.

Yes, I'll keep updates. Those darn Acros are funny.

I have some that are similar to what you're talking about Richard. They were tan in high light, when I moved them to much lower areas....they turned blue and purple and grew better. BUT I also have others that did the same thing when they moved from low to high light.

Never boring!

So Todd...How has that light been working out for you? Both electricity wise and growth.

:)

I love it! It definately raises the load on the chiller though. Not sure on the bill.

I've been running it for 2 hours a day, manually as it's been hard to find a timer to handle the watts. I found one, but it was a stinking 2 prong. Just need to go back and get a three and then I'll be automated!

Mark or Brian......both more than welcome.

where is a good place to find a timer? Where did you find one for a 1000w lol. Will it come with it's own breaker.

:)

I found it's easier to find the older (non digital) type at Lowe's or Radio Shack. Up to 1875w!

Just got the wrong plug configuration.
