Hello all,

Well I had 2 emerald crabs and today I found one just sitting there... which it was weird.. they always hide. Anyways I tried to scare him off and he didn't moved. :huh . Then I grab him and he was dead... :unsure I tried to pick him up and his top part was like an open can... HOLY MOLY! somebody ate him alive!!!
Yesterday night I checked the tank and they were both crabs in the same rock eating algae... one was a little bigger than the other. Maybe the big guy killed him??

Anyways... also I had a Dragon Goby and he is gone!! I didn't find it today. Maybe he ate it too??

I have only 2 peaces of rocks touching the sand and everything is in top of them... and I didn't find it.

I don't want to move all the rocks AGAIN and look on the sand .... :wacko

But if he is dead somewhere I NEED to find it ASAP.

Are the Emerald crabs cannibals?? serial killers??

they're crabs, so they are opportunistic feeders...but i would venture a guess that they may be molting and that dead crab with the top falling off was just a molt.

Dragon gonies are the type that fill up with sand and take food particles as it passes over a gill like structure. Not exactly a cleaner like a wrasse or shrimp. They are awesome at turning over the sand and they are awesome at depositing all that sand over your favorite corals. I enjoy mine.
