Ok this is what I have in mind. I have a Berlin Air Lift skimmer ( $40 @ LFS) and wondering if I can improve its efficency, by attaching a mj 1200 with the venturi connected at the bottom of the skimmer, will it work or do you guys have a different way I can do it?

Would the bubbles be too large to be effective? That would be my first concern. My second is would the MJ1200 be too large and just overflow the skimmer with water? Maybe a smaller pump. The trick would be to introduce teh air before teh impeller so the impeller can chop the bubbles into finer bubbles, but would the MJ become a noisy underwater chainsaw? For $40 maybe try this from my bud Matt (who I noticed has a sponsor banner here) http://www.thehobbypalace.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=264 This is a Sea Clone copy. Probably not as good as a AquaC or a Euroreef but could get the job done for smaller tanks such as a 30g. I can't imagine you were going to put an airlift on anything larger than a 30g anyways.

No it won't work. Sorry! The best thing you can do is get a stronger air pump. Somebody on the for sale forum is selling a remora for $100, which is a good price on an otherwise hopelessly overpriced skimmer.

My very first skimmer in this hobby was the berlin airlift. Memmmmmoreeeees like the falling of the staarrrrrrrs.....
