Hey I have a question for you guys, just a little thought that popped in my head. Just goes to show I have too much time on my hands.

I know that you can use HO, VHO, PC, and MH lighting for a reef tank. But my question is :
Can you use Halogen lights? If so how would you find out the Kalvin Rating? And Finally has anyone ever tried it?

No, halogens are usualy in the 3/4k range and would be very very yellow as they are a tungstin style bulb like generic household lighbulbs and put out tremendous heat.. Its been tried a million times.

Since you said that, I had to see for myself. And yeah your right. I did find a couple that are in the 6500K range. They might work for a frag tank, but that would be it.
