Hello all,

I have a question about a product called Mr Sticky's (An adhesive) that works in water. As I don't really know the typical way to attach a transplant from another fish tank so I was wondering if using Mr Sticky's to say attach a Xenia to a rock etc. would this work without killing everything in the tank?

Thanks for your input!

One place that has Mr Sticky's - http://www.a-a-i.net/index.htm

I don't know this product but I wouldn't recommend any adhesive with a soft coral. The attached tissue dies, rots, and the rest of it just floats off. There are some exceptions with a few other softies, but not zenia. For xenia, I recommend bridal veil and a rubber band on a piece of rubble. The other thing I do is put some in a small plastic bowl full of rubble in an area with low flow and just let it attach on its own. After a few days its will be attached to the rubble and you can then glue the rubble where ever you want in the tank.

I once put a round wooden toothpick through the base of the xenia, then rubber-banded the toothpick to a piece of rock, thus keeping the base of the xenia in contact with the rubble piece. The xenia attached in two or three days' time. I then removed the toothpick (pulled it straight out after rolling it between my thumb and forefinger, in order to gently break it loose from the xenia's flesh). Definitely keeps the xenia from blowing away/wandering off.
BTW, I used rubber gloves; xenia seemed really adverse to human contact, IMO.
