I am going to try vinyl sign material for the backing of my next tank. Has anyone used this before with any luck?

It sure does, especially if you are the type that likes coralline algae. This material is a magnet for coralline. I dont like to have coralline on my back glass thats why I took mine off and painted the back instead. Coraline still grows on my tanks glass but not as much as with the plastic.

it sounds like you applied to the inside of the tank. I applied to the outside.
