i was just wondering if clams are hard to take care of? im thinking about getting a smaller one in a few weeks.

What is your lighting now? Different clams require different amounts of light but most all of them need a lot of light to thrive.
As long as you get one that is at least already around 3" in size they are eazier to care for. Smaller ones require much more maintanance and less likely to make it.
