what you think about a nilsen system?

That is almost identical to what I have but I made it myself! Find a magnetic stir plate on ebay for ~ 40$ (mine even lights up!). After that its a few bucks in pvc pipe and fittings and I have a unit that has worked flawlessly for 2 years.

I now have my RO top off run into a acrylic resevoir and then use timers to dose the water into the reactor and another for the mixing timers. I could have just hooked the top off to the reactor but I dont trust float valves or LLC's. Sure timers arent 100% either but my dosing pump rate is much lower than my RO output so it gives me a bigger window of opportunity to find and correct a problem if it gets stuck on dosing.

edit** Dont freak about the temp on that digital thermometer. That thing went out with the trash shortly after I setup my tank!

what do you use as a stirrer? and does it wear down the flange material?

I use the teflon magnetic stir bars you use in chemistry lab (mine came with 2). I had a clear acrylic chamber when I first made my reactor but the seal broke on it at the bottom(kalk weakened the weldon seal and it started dripping). What ive used for the last 2 years is a pvc blockoff flange on a pvc 3" pipe. I just recently cleaned it out and I didnt see any wear on the magnet or the pvc.
I cant identify plexiglass on this chart but assuming it has similar chemical resistance properties to polycarbonate, PVC is more chemically resitant to Kalk (Calcium hydroxide).
