Well after comming home after a long day on the lake I walked in to what felt like an oven. My girlfriend woke up cold this morning and turned the heater on and.......well forgot to turn the a.c. back on. My tank temp was almost 84 and bad things start to happen at that temp. I've decided to bite the bullet and get a chiller but need help on deciding which one. I am limited on space and don't want an eye sore so it needs to look nice. I am also trying to decide between in-line and drop in. Thanks in advance

Just out of curiosity, does this mean that you need to install the chiller in the same room as the aquarium or are you able to get it out of the room (i.e. through the wall). This may help with opinions. :)

The chiller will be sitting next to the stand.

I would go for the pacific coast chiller[1/4 hp for your tank]. They have built in temp contollers, so there is no need for more plugs, and cords. Not only that butt the 1/4 hp have built in heaters as well. Here is a link about these chillers-

Hope this helps. Plus they do not look that bad either. Butt honestly I do not think that any chiller looks good, butt they sure do a sweet job! :shades

I recommend the pacific coast chillers as well. I have the 1HP and love it. I also like the inline instead of the drop in. If at any time later you move, you have more options on where you want to put the chiller.

Another vote for Pacific Coast here.

Although mine is just the 1/10th hp, it works awesome for my 100+ gallon system!!

I like my artica 1/10th hp chiller, have had it on my 100, and now have it on my 60 cube. Always does the job and looks good too.I too have it standing next to my stand.

Just a thought for you to consider. Since it will apparently be in the house you may want to consider how loud the chiller is rather than looks. You can always build a small cabinet to put the chiller in or decroate around it but you can't do anything about how loud one is once in place.

I used a Fritz Teclima CA240 chiller. I hooked up a Mag 350 canister pump for water flow. The chiller was the quietest unit I ever heard (lack of). The perforance was outstanding!

Thanks for all the ideas folks. My new 1/4 pacfic coast should be here tomorrow. No more 80 plus tank temp.
