I am getting ready to order new filter media for my RO/DI system. I understand the carbon, sediment and DI portions.

How does the RO portion work? Do I need to replace the RO membrane/filter as well?

I have not opened that chamber yet so I don't even know what it looks like.

Thanks,

Dave

Whan it comes to changing your filters there is a routine you should stay with to make things easier. As far as the membrane goes it should last a year to 3 years depending on the source water and how well you keep up the prefilters. The prefilters should be changed every 6 months max. Some people change them more often to make sure the membrane is well protected. If you have a TDS meter you should use that to keep an eye on the system. If you have an RO DI you should periodicaly check the RO output by removing the hose from the input to the DI and testing that water. This will let you know if the membrane is still running at an acceptable rejection rate. Should be max 10% of the incoming water or less. If it is higher than that you might want to consider changing it so you dont beat your DI stage to death.

Good Luck!
