I wont have time to set this tank up like I had planned. I am instead going to setup a DIY custom nano tank. I need to sale this tank and stand. The tank is drilled with two 1" bulkheads. Here are a few pics.
Canopy was built for T5 and would put T5HO lamps about 6" off the water.

how much are you asking for the tank? my g/f has been wanting a tank of her own and that might be pretty decent for her to start off with.

Not sure what do you think it is worth. To be honest I paid 45 for the tank, and about 125 in supplies for the stand. I was thinking maybe 120 total how does that sound? PM what you want to spend and I will consider it.

I've always thought the 45 breeder is a great shape/size tank for a small reef. I used to have one, and to be honest it was the most successful tank I ever ran. Keep it! You built a really nice stand and canopy, although I'd be very tempted to sell the canopy if I were you and go open top with a mini pendent or one of those nice 36" hanging hoods that's got a DE lamp, some actinics, and a moonlight. Maybe you could modify your canopy to fit a couple of 150W DE bulbs.

Sorry, I really have no business spending your money.. :roll

That is what I was thinking as well matt. Either selling it or moding it I would love to have MH on it but heat is abig concern of mine. I guess if I loose the canopy and go with a hanging type pendant with 150 that would work as well. The canopy was built to house T5 so they would sit about 6" off the water. I could cut 2 holes in the top and fit the 150's through the hole with two 4" fans blowing across the canopy. The back of the canopy is open so the air flow is not limited. We will see what happens in the future, It was a plesent surprise when the wife said dont sale it. :)

Doug, I'd say go with the T5's I've got VHO's and MH's on my tank Troy has T5's and MH's on his. We've got most of the same corals, feed the same food, same skimmers, only difference is he has T5's and I have VHO's. His corals colored up SOOOO much nicer then the ones in my tank...with the same bulbs. I'd say get a good T5 setup with individual reflectors and good Actinic bulbs.

Sorry Mike. I just though she didnt like it.

Bug the T5s are so durn expensive. I can get a 250w DE with IC ballast and 20kk bulb in a ROIII for about $250 or so and the T5 with SLR reflectors and spec T5 ballast will run me about $320. but the bulb life about 14 months is a good deal. We will see it is a day to day process T5 one day MH the next. lol

Very true, I will take VHO over any other fluorescent lights. I havent tried the t5s yet but I have heard mixed reviews. From what I have seen though, VHO actinic is pretty tough to beat. I wasnt too impressed with a friends t5 VHO.

You guys just havent seen the right bulbs, I like my t-5 actinics, they are close to VHO, just not quite there yet.

But guess what???

URI which is the company that makes the best VHO actinics hands down will be coming out with a T-5 version very soon, and word is that they will be just as good if not better the VHO.
